It had the first non-ridiculous demographic model I'd ever seen -- for China, in fact -- breaking the population down into age cohorts and using age-dependent mortality and fertility rates.<br /><br />Before that, I was very frustrated with bad MIT modeling, Buckminster Fuller, and over-stylized macro. (Weirdly, I never found a good explanation of the Solow growth model then.
