Keen on McCain

`He's got to not just sort of placate among issues because in many cases, the problems he has with the right are not as much issues-based as they're based on a sense that conservatives have that John McCain doesn't like them, hasn't liked them, and would like them to go somewhere else.''
That would be my take too.

All in favour?

O:)

It'd be perfect if he led them all offstage, and then locked the door behind him.

Not a McCain fan. As far as I can tell, most of his straight talk maverick image is due to two things: a) he boozes and schmoozes journalists (a malleable bunch), and b) movement conservatives call him a left deviationist.

In a saner political era, he'd be considered a typical far right Republican from Arizona. Not as principled as Barry Goldwater, not as crazy as Evan Mecham.

Of course, we're in year eight of crazy, so.
