Austroraptor Rendition and More Details

Between 16.5 to 21 feet long and lived around the Maastrichtian-Campanian Boundary. The head, neck, back, and feet were preserved (why the short arm comments?) and was a member of the unenlagiines. It definitely looks as though the raptor lineage was diversifying all the way out to the end of the Cretaceous.

  1. According to the paper, the humerus was found, and it does look quite puny.

  2. Just realised that the measurements state that the humerus of Austroraptor is 26.2 cm long.

In comparison, Unenlagia's humerus is 26.5 cm, while Deinonychus has a humerus that's 25.4 cm long.

For its size (comparable to Utahraptor?), those really are some short arms.
