Maybe due to fewer abortions and/or less birth control? Doesn't say which states have the most sexually active teens. (I'm not sure what that would look like nor am I sure if anonymous surveys or whatever would even give accurate results.)
Interesting. Thanks for the extra thoughts and research. Side note, I had to dig a bit to realize those abortion numbers were rankings (with 1 being the highest abortion rate) rather than the raw numbers.
One more comment along these lines. I found this post linked from Yahoo!'s page. They did an amazing misquotation. They changed the term "birth rate" to "pregnancy rate" so blindly I guess they did that in their mind while reading. (Not to say terms like "lamentable" in the original article were all that objective.)
That's the "real America" for you. Homegrown traditional values, right there.

Some correlation, but not perfect. Florida, Minnesota, and Nevada frex.
Marriage rates would be interesting by age too. That might negate the 18/19 yo and shift a couple states around.
I guess if I were generating the stats I'd be doing from 13 to 17/18 instead of 15-19.
