The Indian Navy (IN) is fast-tracking plans to build its second, 65,000-tonne aircraft carrier at Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) in southern India.
Designated the Indigenous Aircraft Carrier-II (IAC-II) and likely to be named INS Vishal , the warship will take 10-12 years to build, according to naval officials.
Construction is expected to begin at CSL in 2018 after the IN commissions the 40,000-tonne carrier INS Vikrant following a five-year delay.
