EDINBURGH-based pop star KT Tunstall has revealed a new reason behind her stage name.
The singer, 32, had previously said she changed her childhood name Katie because it "reminded her of a buxom maid".
However, she now says it is all to do with geology. She said songwriter Billy Bragg found a term called the "KT Impact, which marks the start of the extinction of the dinosaurs".
kewl...and a bummer. Too bad she didn't find it herself.
Somewhere in Utah, Jerry Harris lets out a howl of anguish and vows only to refer to her as K-Pg Tunstall...
ReplyDeleteI'm impressed with Billy Bragg. He's an English left folk rock guy -- did some new versions of unreleased Woody Guthrie songs, which are good if that's the sort of thing you like -- but not the person you'd expect to come up with an appropriate geological nickname. Suggests an expansiveness of interests I don't usually associate with lefty folksingers. (though I could see Springsteen, maybe.)
