Sharks are tough to "crack" as it were. Their scales are more or less teeth without enamel, and I don't know of too many modern animals that routinely feast on sharks. Unless these Permian sharks had softer skin, I seriously wonder how Dimetrodon was actively hunting them.
Scavenging a rotting corpse? Sure, happens all the time. But hunting it? Maybe not.
