Despite what the article says, this is NOT a megwatt class laser. To get a MWCL into that size package would be an impressive feat. Second, that slightly damage drone would be totally toasted, not just missing a spar. Third, the optics. Really. Fourth, the altitude restrictions they talk about: 500m or less.
This laser is probably around a kilowatt, maybe as much as ten, but that would be a stretch.
