Barbatodon transylvanicus: A Cretaceous Multituberculate Mammal from Romania



What I find interesting is the reported use of iron to strengthen the teeth.  Do we have extent examples of this?

Yep - a whole clade of shrews is informally known as the 'red toothed shrews' due to iron pigment incorporated into the enamel layer of the teeth, usually a little way beneath the surface. Chemically and spatially the iron is well known, but the precise reason for it is not! There are probably others also...
