The US Navy's (USN's) sixth Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) is preparing to take on fuel for the first time as it nears the end of construction and gears up for its tests and trials phase, officials told IHS Jane's on 15 May.
Jackson (LCS 6), the third vessel of the Austal USA-built Independence class, is about to commence a test period in the water, conducting trials alongside in advance of heading out for sea trials in the final quarter of 2014. Handover is expected in December 2014.
