Russian Space Program Update

There are some interesting times for the Russians these days.  I'll skip the Ukraine situation in this post, but rather talk about their space program.

Russia is back to chasing down the Martian Potato: Phobos.  They are attempting to get their this time in 2024.  Russian stubbornnes vs the Great Galactic Ghoul.

It also looks like the Russian lunar missions have been officially delayed three years and the European-Russian collaboration for the ExoMars Rover has hit some snags causing a two year slip.  Both are linked to here.

Russia is taking moves to take over Energia.  The President, Lopota, was officially suspended on friday.

Apparently, ILS laid off 25% of its staff due to Proton rocket woes. This is a US based company which markets Russian launches.

Russia is also getting ready to cut funding to the Baikonur Spaceport.
