AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH!

Repeat after me. Every last one of you scientist types that read this.

CORRELATION DOES NOT EQUAL CAUSATION.

Back.

Up.

What.

You.

Say.

With.

More.

Than.

Timing.

There is such a thing as coincidence.

It is always possible that Y you THOUGHT was causing X, is really Y happening because X happened.

You need MORE evidence. PERIOD.

For the love of Pete!

(there are multiple things that have brought this to a head)

I completely agree, but I think your suggestion should apply broadly to every person in all walks of life.

Scientific types need to back up their claims with hard data/meaningful observation/analysis.

Everyone else in the world is an expert on everything, thanks to the internet. They read one Yahoo! article about something based on a single scientific study and suddenly they know what they're talking about.

Ironically, the info to back up their pseudo-knowledge is ever present on the internet as well. :)

*looks terrified*

Don't DOOOO that to me, Alex. That's scary. Worse than anything Hollywood has put out.

Interpret that last as you will. ;)
