The Freedom variant of the US Navy's (USN's) Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) is expected to achieve initial operational capability (IOC) with the second increment of the surface warfare (SuW) mission package (MP) by the end of 2014.
USS Fort Worth (LCS 3), the second Freedom-class ship, completed a combined initial operational test and evaluation (IOT&E) period with the SuW MP Increment 2 in April 2014.
